Meeting in Aliaga (Turkey)

Within the second year of implementation of the European Comenius program entitled «Hand in Hand for the Environment Protection» three professors and a student of our school visited business school at Aliaga in Turkey between 10 and 16 September 2011.

Before the visit was informing the student that would be involved and their parents for general purposes and objectives of the Comenius program, the benefits will derive from their participation in the program, and obligations incurred. There was also a summary of the program of the visit and discussed some practical issues.

The responsibility for organizing the visit and coordinate communication with partner schools during the preparation, which was primarily via email and via live chat,  took over the school coordinator which was the host school.

The main purpose of the visit was to design and planning activities to take place until the middle of the current school year (2011-2012) including the next meeting.

Also, one of the purposes of the meeting was the visit of students from different countries.

More specifically:

1. Each school made a presentation on the activities and dissemination of results and actions on specific issues. The subjects chosen last year was the International Day of the Danube, the sun and sea. For Greece was chosen global sea days.

2. Agreed dates for future meetings for the project in Italy (November 2011) and Spain (March 2012).

3. Discussed activities for the second year of the program. We analyzed in detail all activities and assigned tasks to each partner. We also discussed the final conclusions of the project.

4. Discussed in detail the questions and issues will be developed for research on the issue of transfer of energy. The results and conclusions of the survey will be processed and presented by our company's school in Italy.

5. Discussed the renewal of the website.

6. Made study visits to the recycling ships and shipwrecks center, to the oil refinery and petrochemical plant Petkim and to wind park Yuntdagi in Bergama.

7. Visited the City Hall Aliaga.

8. Visited Ephesus, home of Mary and the Natural Park in Ayvalik Islands by boat.

During their stay our colleagues from the school that hosted us, guided us in areas of special natural, cultural and historical interest and natural beauty. On these visits involved also students from all countries.

After returning to Greece we did an internal planning for the implementation of agreed actions and actions at school and the material gathered from the visit will be published on the school website
